From Mougins School to university and beyond
Upon entry into sixth form, students begin thinking about the next big leap in the educational journey – university.
At Mougins School, we work hard to prepare our students for this leap, supporting them in making their university choices, organising information sessions and guiding them through the application process. We also organise and attend university fairs, both in person and online, to help students get a better understanding of the choices available to them.
Our team of sixth form mentors, with experience in all subjects, are on hand to provide advice and support to students as they prepare to apply for their chosen courses, including offering help with personal statements. We have a dedicated slot in the timetable for university application clinics, to make sure that all our students have the best chance of being accepted into their chosen university. In addition, we encourage all our sixth form students to undertake work experience – ideally related to their chosen field of study.
We recently welcomed a new university counsellor to the school who will be on hand to help the students through this important stage of their lives through academic advice and a thorough college and career counselling programme.
Partnerships with university preparation platforms
As a school we subscribe to Unifrog, an online platform, a university and careers guidance service specially designed for international students. It enables students to explore courses globally to find options that match their interests. We also use SPW Careers Services, a UK-based careers advice service that offers personalised 1:1 online support and guidance throughout Years 12 and 13. Finally, we have partnered with Crimson Education, which helps to develop a student’s candidacy for world-leading universities. Crimson Education is a global network of world-class mentors, university admissions experts and academic tutors that assist students in gaining admission to their best-fit universities across the globe.
The majority of Mougins School leavers go on to university in the UK, although we also have a number of school leavers who attend universities in Europe, the USA, Canada, and further afield. In recent years, students have gone on to study at universities in France, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Hungary and Belgium, as well as the US, Canada, and Australia.
Access to UK
For access to British universities, at least three A-level passes are normally required, and for more prestigious UK universities, at least three A-level subjects at grade B or above are necessary. Students make their university application via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Service).
Access to international universities
A-level qualifications are recognised throughout the world. Mougins students are able to apply to universities worldwide with these qualifications.
