Netball, a sport revered in the UK, is experiencing popularity across France, and Mougins School is at the forefront of this exciting movement! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that five of our talented students – Xavier, Alex, Gigi, Lucy, and Sophie – have been selected to represent their country on the French National Netball Team! This incredible achievement not only highlights their dedication and skill but also underscores the rapid growth of netball in the region.

A Testament to Talent and Dedication

This national selection is a monumental moment for our students and for netball in France. Alex H., one of the selected students, shared his enthusiasm: "I was very happy to know I was still part of Netball France. I've been in it for 3 years now, so it means I still have the abilities to be in it, and it's a great experience for me to be part of the Netball France community to represent my home country!" His words capture the pride and commitment shared by all five athletes.

Sophie shares her perspective on the honor and the team's future:

"I felt incredibly proud and excited for the new season ahead. It’s such an honour to have the opportunity to represent France and continue growing as part of this amazing team."

Gigi adds a personal note on the honor and impact of the team sport:

"I feel very proud to be able to say that I’m part of the national team and was honestly very shocked to find out. I really enjoy the teamwork aspect of netball and the community of people who become your family that comes from it. Mougins school has really helped to develop netball for so many players at so many different ages and levels by collaborating with Netball Nice (our club) and our coach/club president Lucy Doassans and allowing us to use the gym as our training venue."

THRIVE Netball & Netball Nice: Fostering a Passion for the Game

The success of these students is a direct reflection of the vibrant netball community flourishing at Mougins School and beyond. Whether you're a complete beginner or an aspiring club player, there's a place for you to embrace the sport.

THRIVE Netball offers a fantastic entry point for our students, eager to give netball a try. Coached by the experienced Louise Hartley and Jane McCosker, these sessions are held every Monday, promising a perfect blend of fun, fitness, and friendship on the court. It's an ideal environment to learn the ropes and discover the joy of this dynamic game.

Speaking about her involvement with the school programme, Sophie says: "What I enjoy most about netball—through the THRIVE that Alex and I run on Monday afternoon—is seeing the younger players develop. From not knowing the game at all to becoming genuinely excited to play every week. Watching them gain confidence and grow more comfortable in their positions is so rewarding."

For those seeking a more competitive and club-level experience, Netball Nice provides excellent training opportunities right here at Mougins School. The club caters to various age groups:

• Juniors: Train on Wednesdays from 5:30–7:00 pm.
• Adults: Train Wednesdays 7:00–9:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00–11:00 am.

Alex H. also speaks glowingly about his experience with Netball Nice: "The thing that I enjoy most in being part of the Netball Nice club is that we always bring joy and fun to the team, if it's by making people laugh and have fun, but also being very productive in training camps and on training days. I feel this helps us build our skills and team spirit as well, and this is what Netball Nice is all about!" This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the welcoming and dedicated spirit of the club.
