Earlier this month, our Head Boy Louis and Head Girl Andrea represented Mougins British International School at the Student Leadership Summit, an annual event bringing together senior students from Globeducate schools around the world. The summit is designed to challenge students’ leadership styles, foster personal growth, and build lasting international friendships through workshops, seminars, and collaborative activities.

Over several days, students explored key themes such as public speaking, communication, problem-solving, and professional etiquette. They were encouraged to reflect on their own leadership approaches, learning from one another’s perspectives and experiences. 

For Andrea, the experience was both insightful and transformative:

“I found it an enriching experience both in terms of learning what kind of a leader I am and developing my strengths and weaknesses, but also in terms of meeting new people from across the world and making friendships that will last a lifetime. Taking the Belbin leadership style test allowed me to better grasp my style of leadership. We also worked on the idea of quiet leadership, which involves the idea that being a great leader does not mean being the loudest in the room, something that truly resonates with me.”

Louis echoed this sense of growth and global connection:

“In Cyprus I learnt what kind of leader I was and how to build a team of people who can each contribute differently. Beyond the workshops, interacting with people from all over the world — from Cyprus to Canada — taught me a lot about different cultures and how that impacts the way we work together. I also learnt that travelling to different countries and meeting strangers is a much easier and more enjoyable experience if you go into it with an open mind and no prior judgement.”

The summit not only helped students strengthen their leadership skills, but also reminded them that true leadership is about empathy, teamwork, and open-mindedness — qualities that will guide them both within and beyond Mougins School.
