We are proud to see Mougins British International School alumnus JJ Bloom take the next step in his sporting journey as part of the British Skeleton programme.

JJ moved from London to Valbonne at the age of six and spent much of his childhood in the South of France. He studied at Mougins British International School before returning to the UK to pursue his university studies at the University of Bath, where he is now completing a BSc in Sport Performance.

Originally a sprinter, JJ competed at the French U20 Championships and represented the Provence Alpes-Maritimes Côte d’Azur region. He also competed in the UK at BUCS level and previously played baseball, representing Great Britain at U20 level and training with the French national team.

His pathway into British Skeleton began through a connection with a friend in the GB Bobsleigh squad while he was studying at Bath. JJ was invited to try out on the push track and progressed through UK Sport’s “Find Your Greatness” talent identification programme, which initially attracted around 3,000 applicants.

Following a confirmation camp on ice in Norway in October 2025, JJ travelled to Altenberg and La Plagne in February 2026 before beginning full-time training with the British Skeleton team in spring 2026.

The BBSA currently lists JJ among its British Skeleton athletes, alongside established names including Matt Weston, Marcus Wyatt, Amelia Coltman and others.

A new sporting chapter

JJ’s journey from Mougins to the British Skeleton programme is a fantastic example of how an international education can support students as they pursue their passions across borders, from the South of France to university in the UK and now onto the international sporting stage.

With his Skeleton debut still ahead of him, we look forward to following JJ’s progress as he continues his journey with British Skeleton.

Congratulations, JJ, we are extremelly proud to call you a Mougins School alumnus!
