Mougins School Receives Eco-Schools Gold Award for the Second Consecutive Year
Julie Dufaye

Mougins School is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Eco-Schools Gold Award for the 2025–2026 academic year, marking the second consecutive year that the school has achieved this prestigious recognition.

Under the guidance of Valentina Deidda, our Eco Coordinator, students have continued to develop meaningful environmental projects, raise awareness, and take action to create a more sustainable future.

As a leading international school in the South of France, Mougins School places great importance on educating students to become responsible global citizens. Through the Eco-Schools programme, students are encouraged to understand environmental challenges, develop solutions, and take an active role in creating a more sustainable future.

A student-led approach to sustainability

At the heart of our Eco-Schools journey are our dedicated Eco Delegates, a group of students who have worked throughout the year to lead initiatives, organise events, and inspire positive change across the school community.

Their work follows the structured Eco-Schools methodology, which gives students the opportunity to develop real-life skills in teamwork, leadership, research, and project management.

The journey began with an inquiry phase, where Eco Delegates carried out learning walks around the school, observed our environment, and gathered feedback from students and staff through surveys and interviews. This allowed them to identify areas for improvement and better understand how our school could continue progressing towards greater sustainability.

From ideas to action

Following this initial investigation, students moved into the reflection and action phases, where they transformed their ideas into practical projects and initiatives.

The Eco Committee worked collaboratively to create action plans, implement new ideas, and build upon successful projects from previous years. Their work addressed a range of sustainability themes, including environmental responsibility, health and wellbeing, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By connecting sustainability with everyday learning, students develop a deeper understanding of how individual choices and collective actions can contribute to global change.

Measuring impact and celebrating progress

An important part of the Eco-Schools programme is evaluating the impact of each initiative. During the evaluation phase, students reviewed their progress, measured the outcomes of their actions, and reflected on how their projects benefited both the school and the wider community.

This process allows students to recognise their achievements while identifying new opportunities for improvement in the future.

The Eco-Schools assessment recognised Mougins School’s strong commitment across all areas of the programme, including:

  • Student leadership and engagement through the Eco Committee, where students actively contribute ideas and shape the school’s sustainability vision.
  • A comprehensive environmental and wellbeing audit, allowing students to investigate real challenges within the school community and develop valuable research and project management skills.
  • A rich and ongoing action plan, with projects that continue to grow year after year, demonstrating long-term commitment to sustainability.
  • Meaningful evaluation of progress, enabling students to measure impact and reflect on future improvements.
  • Communication and community involvement, through events and initiatives that raise awareness and bring students, families, and staff together.

Building a greener future together

Receiving the Eco-Schools Gold Award for the second year in a row is a wonderful achievement and a reflection of the dedication of our entire school community.

A special congratulations goes to our Eco Delegates for their enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment throughout the year. Their work demonstrates that young people have an important role to play in protecting our planet and creating positive change.

At Mougins School, sustainability is not only something we learn about — it is something we actively practise every day.

Well done to our Eco Delegates and to everyone in our community who continues to help build a greener, more sustainable future.
