Autumn Term Learning Highlights in Primary
Patricia Moon

The Autumn term has been a positive and productive start to the school year. Children have settled well into their new classes and routines and have shown enthusiasm and confidence across their learning.

In The LaunchPad, children have made strong progress in early reading, enjoying stories, learning letter sounds, and beginning to blend sounds to read simple words.

Year 1 pupils have focused on developing their writing skills, becoming more independent writers and using capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops with increasing accuracy.

In Year 2, children are growing in independence in maths and science, confidently tackling problem-solving and simple investigations.

Year 3 have  been applying their research skills across the curriculum, particularly through topic work linked to our local area.

Year 4 pupils have enjoyed exploring a range of storybooks rich in vocabulary which has supported the development of storytelling and creative writing skills.

Learning in Year 5 has been enriched through local trips connected to their topic on coastal erosion, helping pupils make real-life links to their understanding of geography.

In Year 6, pupils have begun their transition year in preparation for Secondary School , developing independence and responsibility in their learning. They are using their own laptops for some activities, particularly in English and topic work.

We are proud of the progress made this term and look forward to continuing our learning journey in the Spring term.

But for now it’s time to rest and recharge. Well done and Happy Holidays everyone!
