Paddington’s World Tour: A Geography Adventure for Year 3!
Patricia Moon

At Mougins British International School, learning is an adventure — and this term, it quite literally travelled across the globe! Our beloved explorer, Paddington Bear, has been sending postcards from his extraordinary world tour straight to our Year 3 students, turning geography lessons into moments of curiosity, laughter, and excitement.

From misty cliffs to royal encounters, Paddington has had quite the journey…

He began in North Berwick, Scotland, where he admired the breathtaking coastline near Edinburgh. Then he hopped over to Cork, Ireland, for a very civilised afternoon tea with Mrs O’Mahony’s mum. His travels took him back to London, where he was spotted meeting none other than King Charles himself!
Not long after, he made his way to Vatican City in Rome, where he had the honour of greeting Pope Leo XIV.

But Paddington didn’t stop there. He wandered across Crete, the largest island in Greece, famous for its olive trees; visited Australia, where he reportedly fell in love with kangaroos; and explored the buzzing streets of Bangkok, Thailand.
Back in England, he fished for lobsters and crabs in Whitby, visited a tiny model village in Beaconsfield (he especially loved the miniature train!), and toured the Hat Museum in Stockport.

As if that wasn’t enough, our furry traveller crossed the Atlantic to South Dakota, wandered through Charlottesville, Virginia, and soaked up the sunshine in Florida, where he had a wonderful time on Indian Rocks Beach.

And these are just some of the postcards Year 3 received — Paddington has been truly unstoppable!

Learning Geography the Playful Way

Each postcard challenged students to identify the city, country, and continent where Paddington had been spotted. What could have been a simple geography exercise transformed into an exciting global treasure hunt!

Year 3 students eagerly waited for each new postcard, tracing Paddington’s footsteps across maps and deepening their understanding of world geography without even realising how much they were learning.
It was curiosity-driven, imaginative, and wonderfully engaging — the perfect example of how learning comes alive in our classrooms.

A Big Bravo to Mrs Claire Lambert!

This delightful initiative was brought to life by Mrs Claire Lambert, whose creativity, dedication, and passion for inspiring young learners shine through in everything she does. By going above and beyond, she turned a curriculum topic into an unforgettable global adventure — one that our students will remember for years to come.

Thank you, Mrs Lambert, for reminding us that the best learning experiences often start with a spark of imagination… and perhaps a very adventurous bear in a blue coat and red hat.
