Through tailored programs like the RISE Programme and the English Improvement Programme, we provide personalised pathways for neurodivergent (SEN)and English as a second language (EAL) students to succeed.

The Needs of Our Learners

Did you know? According to Gov.UK, nearly 1.5 million pupils in England were diagnosed with specific educational needs last year. Globally, one in five children face challenges such as difficulties in reading, writing, mathematical concepts, or managing behaviour. These needs are diverse, ranging from sensory perception to social relationships. Recognising these realities, our Inclusion Department works diligently to address them through comprehensive support systems.

RISE Programme: Tailored Learning for Specific Needs

The RISE Programme at Mougins School is designed to meet a variety of specific learning needs. Using the WAVE plan of action, our Inclusion Department offers a range of support, which includes one-on-one sessions with specialist teachers. Research shows that early, targeted interventions significantly improve long-term learning outcomes.
Through the RISE Programme, we ensure students receive the right support at the right time, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential. Whether through individualised lesson plans or collaborative strategies with classroom teachers, the programme is a cornerstone of our inclusive philosophy.

English Improvement Programme: Mastering the Language of Success

For students navigating the challenges of English as an Additional Language, our English Improvement Programme provides crucial support. Small group sessions, led by our in-house English language specialists, focus on building linguistic confidence and competence. These sessions, held during class time, allow students to access the broader curriculum alongside their peers.
Our goal is simple: to help students fully engage with their year group's learning journey as quickly and effectively as possible.

Bringing Learning to Life: Tiphanie's Inspiring Contribution

Innovation and creativity are at the core of our Inclusion Department, with Tiphanie Goldspink being a perfect example of this spirit. As a specialist teacher, art educator, and accomplished children's book illustrator, Tiphanie brings a unique blend of artistic talent and educational expertise to our school. Her beloved Fletcher Fox character, featured in several of her illustrated books, has become a familiar and cherished figure for many of our primary pupils. These stories aren't just entertaining—they serve as springboards for dynamic outdoor learning experiences and literacy activities, seamlessly blending creativity with curriculum goals.

Recently, she released a board book introducing toddlers to numbers in a fun, accessible way. Filmed in our Inclusion Department, this project showcases how creative tools can make learning enjoyable for every child. 

Tiphanie’s work exemplifies our commitment to making learning both accessible and enjoyable for all students. Her projects go beyond traditional teaching methods, inspiring curiosity and confidence in learners of all abilities.
