Music at Mougins School

At Mougins School music forms an important part of daily life. Music classes and appreciation begins in our Nursery Class, and from the age of four, children can choose to take private lessons in a particular instrument.

Our music department is led by professional musician Faye Gossedge who combines a love of music with her wide professional experience to every lesson. Faye is joined by Valentina Deidda, who has a wealth of musical and teaching experience in the UK.

VOcal music instructor VOnny marshall-edwards

Vonny Marshall-Edwards is a trained actress and singer, graduating after three years from the renowned Guildford School of Acting (many moons ago!) with the First Prize Award of her year. Before coming to France in 1989 for a singing contract, Vonny worked as an actress in film, TV and theatre in the UK. Happily, Vonny settled in France and has been a vocal coach (and occasional actress!) all this time, and was closely involved with the professional English-speaking theatre company, The Red Pear, for several years.  Vonny is currently working as a vocal coach, theatre teacher and is herself a singer. Her students are numerous, and Vonny has had several who have participated in the French The Voice and The Voice Kids over the past seven years. In 2020, her student, Ema reached the final of the Voice Kids. Another of her students, who himself studied music at the Mougins School, Max Cinnamon, was in the final of the French Eurovision Selection TV programme with his own song. Vonny regularly holds workshops and master classes (including at the Mougins School in the past) and is also a judge for the much-respected Passion Chant Côte d’Azur Singing Contest, in Nice, for several years now. Vonny’s approach to singing is fun and pedagogical, very linked to theatre (after all a singer is simply an actor who sings!) but with solid vocal, breathing and stage and expression techniques and disciplines to bring out and improve the voices of her students. Her work also aims to improve confidence and well-being, particularly in young people.
