Pastoral Care and Safeguarding at Mougins School

Nurturing and caring for our pupils is of paramount importance here at Mougins School. We are wholly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers, pupils and visitors to share this commitment. Class tutors are on hand to respond to pupils’ individual emotional needs while our senior students act as mentors to the younger pupils and lead by example. We have a buddy system to help integrate new students and ensure that no child feels left out of school life.

We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach of working closely with our families and parents are encouraged to contact individual members of staff with regard to any concerns at any time. Our Health and Wellbeing Centre has a dedicated nurse on hand each day.

Throughout their time at school, children also have access to our Learning Support and EAL (English as an Additional Language) departments, for extra help and guidance. We are very aware of the challenges children face adapting to life in a new environment, sometimes a new country, and we are on hand to make the transition as smooth as possible. We offer additional English language classes for non-native speakers who need extra support in adapting to school in English.

We have ensured that Mougins School is fully accessible to all students, no matter what their needs.

“Safeguarding is our top priority at Mougins School. We are committed to guaranteeing the safety of all our children and young people. At Mougins School we have introduced changes in alignment with the latest information in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021. We follow safer recruitment guidelines ensuring all staff have a police check or extrait du casier judiciaire bulletin n°3: and we use specialised services such as MyConcern to ensure the physical, social, emotional and educational welfare of all our students. At Mougins School we have a team of designated safeguarding leads that work together to help train our staff in the best Safeguarding practises and how to identify concerns in our students. Our Staff are our first line of defence in ensuring the wellbeing of all our students and who help to establish the positive learning environment that makes Mougins School unique.”

The accessibility of Mougins School is really appreciated and important to us. We are always trying to give positive advice for parents with workshops, after school meetings. Our safeguarding team helps to provide a positive, secure and happy environment for our students.

We are wholly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people.
