Sports in the curriculum
Sports play an important role in the lives of our students. Lessons are planned with a holistic approach incorporating physical, social and emotional well-being. Part of this approach includes supporting sports competitions that encourage healthy competition and teamwork.
Sports facilities at Mougins School
Our school has a full-sized synthetic football pitch, outdoor games court, and an indoor competition-sized gymnasium. The school is also affiliated to the UNSS, the national sporting organisation for schools in France, where schools play intramural matches and hold sports meets. Our sports teams compete in major tournaments on a regional and national level, and in recent years have won a number of tournament medals.
House system and sport
At Mougins School, we find that the British-style house system is a good way for students and staff to feel more connected and involved in the school community.
Every student from Year 3 to Year 13, and also every member of staff, is assigned to one of the four House teams:
- Chagall (Yellow)
- Matisse (Blue)
- Picasso (Red)
- Renoir (Green)
Taking part in sporting events for house teams encourages students to interact and get to know both their classmates and children from other school years. House teams encourage school spirit, friendly competition and working together as a team.
Events & Sport at Mougins School
Each year we organise school sports days for both primary and secondary schools. These occasions are highly anticipated throughout the year and allow our students to compete to win for their school house. These events are supported by the PTA Association who provide refreshments.
We usually organise an inter-house competition at the end of each module of work of most of the activities we cover in PE.
We have teams mainly in Orienteering, Cross-Country, Volleyball, Football and Basketball.
