Since the introduction of the THRIVE programme at Mougins British International School in 2021, students in Year 3 and above have been offered the opportunity to explore new activities from 3-4pm.

Today Stann, in Year 11, shares about his Golf sessions during THRIVE

Every Thursday afternoon, we head to the Cannes Mougins Country Club, where we have the chance to learn and perfect our golfing skills in one of the most stunning locations imaginable.

At 3 o’clock, the group gathers outside the Millennium building. With excitement in the air, we make our way to the club, greeted by not only Mr Hallett but also two professional golf instructors who are always eager to help us improve our game.

The country club is an incredible place to practice, with its stunning scenery and friendly members who make us feel welcome every week. The golf professionals are exceptional, teaching us everything from how to drive off the tee to the more intricate details of putting. Regardless of whether you’re completely new to golf or you’ve been playing for a while, there’s always something new to learn. The environment is relaxed yet focused, providing the perfect blend of fun and skill development.

One of the highlights of THRIVE golf is the mini-competitions we hold during the sessions. It’s always a great laugh, even if Mr Hallett seems to win every time! (He told me to write that part!) But beyond the competition, it's a fantastic opportunity for all of us to apply what we've learned, challenge each other, and steadily improve with every session.

At the end of each term, we get to play on the actual course, which really puts all the skills we’ve learned into practice. It’s an amazing experience to play on a professional course, and it’s always exciting to see how much progress we’ve made throughout the term.

Currently, we have a full group of twenty enthusiastic golfers, but if you’re interested in joining us next term, make sure to sign up early! THRIVE provides such a unique opportunity to learn a sport that teaches not only physical skills but also patience, strategy, and discipline, all while having a great time with friends. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, golf THRIVE at Mougins British International School is an activity you don’t want to miss!

How THRIVE Unlocks New Opportunities for Students at Mougins

The THRIVE programme at Mougins British International School is designed to nurture confident, well-rounded students through a holistic approach that emphasizes personal growth and academic success. Divided into four pillars (The Self, for physical and mental well-being; The Thinker, for enhancing academic and critical thinking skills; The Creative, for fostering creativity and artistic expression; and The Community, for encouraging social engagement) THRIVE offers students a diverse range of activities to explore their interests. With mixed-age classes that promote collaboration and mentorship, students not only strengthen their skills but also build strong community bonds. This innovative programme ensures every child thrives both inside and outside the classroom, preparing them for a successful and fulfilling future.

The THRIVE programme is mandatory for students in Year 3 and above, taking place every day from 3 to 4pm (except Wednesdays). For Nursery, Reception, and Years 1 and 2, participation is optional.
